    Principles of An Abundant Life
    Introduction:

Our generous God promised the people of old an abundant life if they would follow His voice. (Ezekiel 34:12-15, 25-31) Our Lord Jesus made a similar promise to us in John 10:9-10. Christ wants His followers to possess a rich, meaningful life. What principles govern that abundant life?

    2. What Must I Do To Be Saved?

    By Charles Box

Those who became disciples of Jesus learned His doctrine and followed Him as teacher. Christ must be viewed as Master and His followers must be "learners" or "disciples." "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20) On what possible basis do we have any right to tell anybody they should change their whole way of thinking and acting and become a disciple of Jesus Christ? We teach based on the authority of Jesus Christ. Disciples are to be made for Jesus all over the world. By the authority of Jesus Christ we can preach His message to person in every place. True discipleship is expressed in Luke 14:27. Jesus said, “"And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be ...

    Introduction:
The word rest conjures up many images to different people. To some, it is not working or laboring. To others, it means not having to put up with the daily grind or drudgery of life. Still others think of not being disturbed or agitated, with no fretting or fuming due to things that are happening in the world. What does rest mean to the child of God?

    Body:
    I. It Means Being at Peace

    • Joshua 11:23 The land had rest from external enemies. It was undisturbed, quiet. This is similar to the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:31-34.

    Praising Jehovah
    Introduction:
Praising the Lord should be one of the most natural things in the world. Our attitude needs to be that of David in Psalms 34:1-3. David invites the humble to join with him in expressing their adoration of the Lord.
The aim of this lesson is to examine the various Hebrew words translated “praise” and “worship” in the Old Testament.
    Body:
    I. Bow Down

    • Psalms 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times.” Give God reverence as an act of adoration.

    I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth,

    • Psalms 100:3-5 Be aware of God’s presence and His goodness.

Conduct of Teachers of the Word. Sermons from the book of 1 Thessalonians.

    The Conduct of Teachers

    Introduction:
The last few verses of I Thessalonians, chapter one, stressed the importance of the power of example. The Christians in Thessalonica had become imitators of the Lord. As a result, their lives were examples of faithfulness to other Christians throughout the world. In our text, Paul reminds his readers of his own conduct as an evangelist when he was among them and what kind of example he had been.

    We Give Thanks to God
    Introduction:
Paul had sent Timothy to the young church at Thessalonica. While Paul is at Corinth, Timothy returns to him with news about the Christians. They are steadfast and faithful in their service, but some are having concerns about the second coming of Christ. Paul is quick in responding and writes this letter we call I Thessalonians. Put yourself in their shoes – new Christians, new religion. This is one of the earliest documents from the beginning of the church.

    The Conscience
    Introduction:
In Inside Sports John Feinstein writes:
In 1994 golfer Davis Love III called a one-stroke penalty on himself during the second round of the Western Open. He had moved his marker on a green to get it out of another player’s putting line. One or two holes later, he couldn’t remember if he had moved his ball back to its original spot. Unsure, Love gave himself an extra stroke.
As it turned out, that one stroke caused him to miss the cut and get knocked out of the tournament. If he had made the cut and then finished dead last, he would have earned $2,000 for the week. When the year was over, Love was $590 short of automatically qualifying ...

Amazing Grace (An Analysis of God’s Grace)

It is the purpose of this lesson to make an in depth study of God’s grace from a Biblical perspective.

    Grace produces forgiveness:
Ephesians 1:7, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace”

Grace provides salvation from the condemnation of sin:
Ephesians 2:5, “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)” Acts 15:11, “But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they”.

The word of Grace builds a Christian up:
Acts 20:32, “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified”.

    God’s Grace is impartial:
Titus 2:11, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men”. ...

    The Lord's Supper is…

When considering the topic of the Lord's supper, it is important to note that we do not learn everything about it and what its significance is from any single context. To gain a thorough understanding we must consider all of what the inspired writers taught about it and put it all together into a single doctrinal teaching and then apply it correctly to our lives. All scripture references are from the KJV unless otherwise noted.

Names applied to the Lord's Supper:

It is called the "Lord's Supper" in 1 Corinthians 11:20
It is called the "breaking of Bread" in Acts 20:7, Acts 2:42
It is called the "communion" in 1 Corinthians 10:16

The Lord's Supper is the communion of the body and blood of Christ:
1 Corinthians 10:16, "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body ...

    2. Obedience

    Analysis of Obedience

We are taught in scripture that only those who do the will of the Father in heaven will enter the kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 7:21). Obedience to the will of God is therefore a life and death matter for the Christian who would live his or her life in pleasing manner before God. Jesus went on to teach the parable of the wise and foolish builders in Matthew 7, starting in verse 24. He said, "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it". ...

    Analysis of a Command

We are taught in scripture that only those who do the will of the Father in heaven will enter the kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 7:21). Obedience to the will of God is therefore a life and death matter for the Christian who would live his or her life in pleasing manner before God. Jesus said in John 5:28-29, "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." We must be obedient to God if we want to live in Heaven with Him forever.

So it is important that we understand what the will of God in heaven is so that we can obey Him. Before Jesus ascended back to heaven after His resurrection He gave the disciples this command in Matthew 28:19, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of ...

    The Christian’s Power Supply

    Hebrews 4:12-16
    INTRO:
    1. At one time I worked with a company that inspected power plant components. They took apart steam turbines and I looked for cracks in the blades and other parts.
    2. Learned a lot goes into power production. (Explain.)
    3. Each of us needs a source of power in our lives. We need to be able to face the challenges of daily living and those times when we face trouble and loss.
    4. What is your power supply? Do you have one? None of us is completely self-sufficient. Even a good flashlight needs batteries.
    5. Let me recommend the Christian’s power supply. It has three component parts. Hebrews 4:12-

    I. God’s powerful word.
    a. The power of the word can:
    i. Make a difference. Matt 13:18ff
ii. Free us from bondage. John 3:31-32

    Is Dancing Sin?

    Is dancing a sin? Audio

This is a question, like so many decisions that we have to make in our personal life, which is not directly answered in the scriptures. In other words, there are no scriptures that say, “Dancing is sinful”, or, "Thou shalt not Dance". And when it comes to questions such as this one, they are largely answered based upon our attitude toward the word of God. So the first thing that we need to ask ourselves in answer to this question is this: am I going to have an attitude that seeks to avoid any questionable decisions in my life and the appearance of impropriety? Or am I going to have an attitude that seeks to try to get

    Four Types Of Worship

Here is an important truth that is hard for some people to hear: NOT ALL WORSHIP IS PLEASING TO GOD. Notice how the Bible proves this true:

    • Cain: Genesis 4:5
    • Nadab & Abihu: Leviticus 10:1-3
    • The Corinthian Congregation: 1 Corinthians 11:17-22

In each of these examples we are shown that the worship that was offered was found by God to be unacceptable. What is not debated is that those involved worshiped. What is clear however, is that the worship they offered was not pleasing to God and was rejected. What is true of these individual in the past is also true for people today. The Bible teaches us that God does not leave us in the dark when it comes to what is acceptable and unacceptable in the area of worship.

    I. Unacceptable Worship
    A. Vain Worship

    • Matthew 15:7-9
    • Worship that is according to the traditions of man.

    Why Become a Christian? Audio

Why did we all get up today and come to worship? What is it about Christianity that compels us to take time out of our busy lives and come together on each Lord's Day, and to offer our worship to God? What is it about Christianity that compels us to live our life in adherence to a higher purpose? What is it about Christianity that compels us to seek to mold our lives around that which is good and right and just and to shun behavior which is opposed to all that is right? In short, why did we choose to be Christians and why should those who are not Christians choose to become one?

There are a lot of reasons why I became a Christian but the main one which drove me above all the rest is that I recognize that we are living in a material world that could only have gotten here as a result of the will, actions and purpose of a creator. In short, I recognize and acknowledge ...

    We are Without Excuse
    Romans 1:18-20

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
    NKJV

God expects all mankind to recognize His existence through observation of what He created. Inspiration says that His existence and eternal power has been clearly evident since the beginning of the creation. Defining the creation as the world in which we live contained within the observable universe. In other words, the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars, the sky, etc, etc. God simply said "the things that are made". ...
